Listing agent Ryan Preuett of Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty said the unit is priced in line with the comparably sized unit one flight up, which went on the market as a resale in late September at $2.6 million and was under contract to a buyer three weeks later.
There is a keen market for both the wrecks and the restored towers: “We always had a consistently high level of demand for peel towers, particularly from people interested in history and in the area,” says John Millar, an estate agent in the Borders for more than 30 years.
The kudos of owning a beach house fuels overseas property markets and drives up prices in many mature investment locations like the Cote d’azur in France, Puerto Banus in Spain and Lake Como in Italy with investors now buying up waterfront real estate in new areas such as Antalya and Bodrum in Turkey.
