The Grand Friday is located in Male which also functions as an Islamic Center. This mosque is also often used for international seminars that can accommodate 5000 people. This mosque looks beautiful, it has a golden dome and majestic tower. The inside of the mosque is decorated with beautiful Arabic wood carvings. The mosque itself was opened in 1984 by president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
If you visit the Maldives, don’t forget that you visited the National Museum. The National Museum is located in Sultan Park. This museum is a witness which keeps a lot of historical objects. There is also the Mulee Aage Palace located in front of the Grand Friday mosque. Mulee Aage Palace was built in 1906 by Sultan Mohamed Shamsuddeen III before World War I.
Then, you can visit the Hukuru Miskiiy Mosque which is the oldest mosque in the Maldives. The Hukuru Miskiiy Mosque was built during the time of Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar I. Other tourist attractions that are no less interesting to visit are the Esjehi Art Gallery and the Male Fish Market.
